Huge opposition rally in Armenia

Ten people including two policemen, were killed in violence on 1 March 2008 in Armenia, after eleven days of protests against the victory in the presidential election of Serzh Sargsyan against Levon Ter-Petrossian. authorities had declared a state of emergency and appealed to the army to restore order, accusing opponents of trying to seize power.
Participants in the demonstration on Tuesday, showed off some pictures of victims of violence, demanded that those responsible for events murderers are punished.
IMPUNITY
Levon Ter-Petrosian has called for the opening of an international investigation and demanded the release of those he called "political prisoners" - of opposition members jailed for their involvement in the violence. The opposition party Jarangutyun ("Legacy") has also criticized the current political leaders for their refusal to bring to justice those responsible for such violence.
Meanwhile, the Armenian Parliament observed a minute of silence to honor victims of the "tragic events" of 2008, according the words of the President of the Assembly, Hovik Abrahamian.
